Olive Oil is rich in omega3 acids and other nutrients that are essential for overall health, including hair health. When applied directly to the scalp and hair, olive oil helps promote thicker hair. It also has the added benefit of softening the hair and relieving dry scalp.
Method: Heat the oil to body temperature, then massage the warm oil into the scalp and hair while hair is dry. Leave for about thirty to forty-five minutes then rinse out with warm water and mild shampoo.
The vitamin C, pectin and acid in oranges can help hair in a few different ways. The vitamins and nutrients improve the hairs natural luster, which makes the hair appear thicker, while the acids help break down residue left from hair products. These residues interfere with hair growth.
Method: Puree fresh oranges in a blender and apply to dry hair by massaging into scalp. Leave on the hair for about one hour before rinsing out with warm water and mild shampoo.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera is beneficial for the skin, scalp and hair, and by applying directly to the hair and scalp may help to thicken it over time. If you don't have your own Aloe vera plant you can purchase pure Aloe vera gel in any good health food shop.
Method: Apply pure aloe gel to the scalp by massaging gently. Leave for thirty minutes before rinsing out with warm water and mild shampoo. You can also mix the gel with coconut oil or olive oil if find it difficult to apply.
Avocado is rich in vitamin E and makes a fabulous moisturiser for the face, as well as being good for the hair.
Method: Mix the flesh of one avocado with one tablespoon of olive oil.. Massage the mixture into the hair and scalp while hair is still dry. Leave in for about thirty minutes, then rinse out warm water and mild shampoo.
Castor Oil is also high in vitamin E and fatty acids. Vitamin E is known for aiding hair health. Castor oil is easy to apply and needs no preparation.
Method: Rub the oil over the scalp and hair until the hair is coated. Leave for about thirty minutes before rinsing out with warm water and mild shampoo.
Use any of these treatments once or twice a week. If you have allergies or reaction to any of the ingredients used stop using them immediately. With all of these treatments you may want to use a light conditioner after shampooing.
